Lake Oeschinen lies in the admirable Kandertal and is a “must” for a holiday in the Bernese Oberland.
It is an ideal location to spend a day with your family. Imagine a turquoise lake surrounded by an imposing circus of mountains crowned with eternal snow and heights of over 3,000 metres. If this was not enough, this natural spectacle is easily accessible and quite affordable compared to other Swiss trains and cable cars.

The valley station of the cable car is located in Kandersteg where you can find a car park.

Once outside, there are two possibilities: On the left you can take the toboggan run, a mountain slide or you can follow the path on the right that leads to the lake.

If you choose the lake, the first thing you will find is a wonderful landscape with peaks like Blüemlisalp, Doldenhorn or Oeschinenhorn.
The path is easy and simple, even suitable for prams, crosses green meadows full of grazing cows and is always accompanied by incredible views.

After a short descent of 20 to 30 minutes you will reach the Oeschinensee where you will find some mountain restaurants.
Although this part of the path is beautiful, it is advisable to walk along the left side of the lake on a path that leads to the end of the lake. The path runs among beautiful wood carvings and impressive views of the lake among the fir trees of the forest. In 10 minutes you will reach the end of the lake, here is a perfect place to rest, have a picnic or even take a dip.

Must be said that this excursion is especially popular during the weekends of July and August, so you will probably find some more people.

Once you need to return to the cable car station and go down the slide, you can relax on the way back, in 35 minutes you will get the toboggan run to go down it.

There are 5-ride vouchers for adults (children do not pay if accompanied by an adult) with which you can enjoy the speed of the sledges while the delightful landscape of the Kandertal valley passes before your eyes in full speed.
